On 8 May 2026, Mr. Anan Pikultipsakorn, Minister, representก the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur at the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2026 at the headquarter of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRC) in Kuala Lumpur. Dato’ Danial Iskandar Bin Abdul Rahman, Secretary General of MRC presided over the Opening Ceremony and gave the Opening Remarks. Her Highness Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, National Chairperson of MRC, delivered remarks to over 150 participants, including MRC executives, members of the diplomatic corps in Malaysia, government representatives, private sector sponsors, international organizations, media representatives, invited guests, and MRCS personnel.
The National Chairperson of MRC reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to promoting humanitarian values in line with the 2026 World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day theme, “United in Humanity,” through humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts, particularly in the areas of community health, disaster management, and emergency preparedness. Her Highness also expressed MRC’s readiness to cooperate with all sectors, both domestically and internationally, in addressing today’s increasingly uncertain global challenges, especially natural disasters resulting from climate change.
On the occasion, the National Chairperson of MRC also officiated the opening of the Health and Community Management Division office and the Emergency Operations Center at MRC headquarters. Her Highness further presided over the launch MRC official batik attire, which won the MRC design competition, and presented certificates of recognition to outstanding MRC volunteers for the year 2026.
In this regard, MRC is currently coordinating with the Thai Red Cross Society to further strengthen cooperation in supporting each other’s disaster relief operations in the future, following the severe flooding crisis in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province of Thailand in November 2025.
