On 27 - 28 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, together with Mr. Adittha Buakhamsri, Minister Counsellor, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, met with Thai Volunteer Coordinators and members of the Thai Communities in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and Bintulu, Sarawak.
 
Ambassador Lada expressed appreciation to the Thai Volunteer Coordinators for their dedicated collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in safeguarding the welfare and interests of Thai nationals residing in East Malaysia, while inquiring about their living conditions who are engaged in a variety of professions, including Thai restaurant businesses, private company employees, and homemakers married to foreign nationals.
On this occasion, the Ambassador highlighted the role of the Thai Volunteer Coordinators in serving as key communication channel to disseminate accurate information to Thai people in Malaysia, particularly on Malaysia’s immigration and visa regulations, work permit and permanent residency applications, recommendations in case the loss of passport, and warning against phone scams impersonating the Royal Thai Embassy’s officials, while reiterating the Royal Thai Embassy’s continuous commitment to providing consular services and legal guidance to Thai nationals in Malaysia.
 
The engagements were held in warm and cordial atmosphere, with Thai community members expressing appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy’s outreach and showing interest in consular services. The visits further strengthened the close relationship between the Royal Thai Embassy and Thai communities in both Sabah and Sarawak.
