On 6 November 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited as a panelist at the ASEAN Community Conference 2025 (ASCON 2.0) organized by
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia - UKM at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR), UKM, Selangor. The event was attended by UKM executives, including Prof. Dr. Sharifa Ezat Wan Puteh, Dean of the School of Liberal Studies, faculty members, and students, totaling more than 150 participants.
The Ambassador took part in “Forum 2: Smart Partnerships & Economic, Security & Social-Cultural Directions,” alongside Dr. Richard Marshall, Senior Economist at the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam, and Ms. Candice Ruey-Ping Lin, Director of Information of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Malaysia. The Forum was moderated by Dr. Hafizah Omar Zaki, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, UKM.
On this occasion, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of fostering clear and results-oriented partnerships, highlighting Thailand’s successful participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings held from 26 - 28 October 2025 under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship. She also underscored Thailand’s proactive foreign policy role in promoting multidimensional security, addressing transnational security challenges, particularly transnational crimes, and advancing cooperation under ASEAN mechanisms. Furthermore, the Ambassador stressed the importance of maintaining ASEAN’s centrality and unity to drive an inclusive and sustainable future for the ASEAN Community.
