On 17 September 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to deliver opening remarks at the Halal Business Matching and Networking 2025 held at W Nexus by Galleria Avenue, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The event was co-organized by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI); the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE); the National Innovation Agency (NIA); the Prince of Songkla University Science Park, the Office of Commercial Affairs, Kuala Lumpur. The Thai delegation comprised representatives from 37 Thai halal product companies, to showcase their products at the 21st Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2025 held during 17 - 20 September 2025. The event facilitated business matching and networking between Thai entrepreneurs and 26 Malaysian importers and distributors, with over 80 participants.
In her remarks, the Ambassador commended the dedicated collaboration among the relevant Thai agencies, in co-organising the event during MIHAS for the second consecutive year as well as an active participation of public and private sectors from Thailand in MIHAS since 2017. The Ambassador also reiterated Royal Thai Government’s commitment to advancing the halal industry toward establishing Thailand as the ASEAN Halal Hub by 2027, while deepening trade and investment cooperation in the halal sector between Thailand and Malaysia.
On 19 September 2025, the Ambassador was also invited to the opening ceremony of the Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2025 organized by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Malaysia, and held concurrently with MIHAS 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. An opening remarks was delivered by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, and a welcome address by YB Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).
During MIHAS 2025, the Ambassador visited the Thailand Pavilion, which showcased a variety of Thai halal food and beverage products, as well as halal skincare and hair care products, including ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat meals, dried and processed fruits, snacks, herbal drinks, and seasonings. The Thailand Pavillion received much attention from visitors.
