On 29 July 2023, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia presided over the Thai SELECT award ceremony for 9 Thai restaurants in Malaysia at the Think Thailand event held during 19-30 July 2023 at Tropicana Gardens Mall. The Thai SELECT award is an initiative under the Department of International Trade and Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce of Thailand.

        The Embassy wishes to encourage the interested individuals to visit the Thai SELECT restaurant awardees for authentic Thai taste. They are (1) Gai by Darren Chin (Kuala Lumpur) and (2) La MOON (Kuala Lumpur), which are given Thai SELECT Signature awards; and (1) Jatujak Bangkok Street Food (Selangor), (2) Mr. Tuk Tuk (IOI City Mall, Selangor), (3) Tommy Thongchai (Selangor), (4) Baan Thai 2 Seafood & Thai Cuisine (Kuala Lumpur), (5) ISAN Thai Restaurant (Kuala Lumpur), (6) Chatri Signature Authentic Thai Cuisine (Johor), and (7) Chokdee Thai Restaurant (Johor).

        Thai SELECT is a mark of certification awarded by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand to guarantee the authentic Thai taste of Thai food products and Thai restaurants in Thailand and overseas. The symbol is given to restaurants in four categories; namely, Signature, Classic, Casual, and Unique as assessed by type of restaurant, decoration, and level of food and service excellence.
