On 22 July 2023, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia presided over the Grand Opening of the Think Thailand at Tropicana Gardens Mall, Selangor, which is held for the second year during 19-30 July 2023. The Think Thailand is organised through a collaboration between Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and Team Thailand in Malaysia and Malaysian partners including Tropicana Gardens Mall and Perfect Companion Group Malaysia. It is the initiative by the Department of International Trade and Promotion (DITP) Malaysia.

        H.E. Ambassador Lada addressed the objective of the Think Thailand, which is to showcase Thailand’s quality products and services. She also emphasized Thailand’s commitment to achieving the bilateral trade target of 30 billion USD by 2025, whereby Malaysia is Thailand’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.

        The Think Thailand 2023 is considered the first Thai pet fair overseas. It brings together the creative and innovative pet food and pet related products by Thai entrepreneurs and SMEs to Malaysia, in response to the Malaysian market’s growing demand and the trend in “pet humanisation”. Such Thai products including those for especially dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits, rodents have been exported to Malaysia for over two decades. The trend is seen to be growing steadily.

        In addition, during the Think Thailand, visitors will be exposed to Thai culture through Thai massage service, Malaysia-based Thai restaurants with the Thai SELECT certification for quality and standards issued by the DITP, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. There are also other activities such as pet competition, SMEs talk, and business matching.

        The inaugural Think Thailand in 2022 was held successfully. It generated revenue of approximately 40 million Malaysian Ringgit or 300 million baht, which surpassed the target of 6 million Malaysian Ringgit or about 6 times higher than expected. The Think Thailand in 2023 is expected to contribute more revenue for both Thai and Malaysian entrepreneurs due to its much larger scale.
