Ambassador welcomed Advisory Committee, committee members, and delegation of National Scout Council of Thailand to Kuala Lumpur

On 8 December 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, hosted a welcoming dinner in honour of Mr. Setthapun Angkurapassavich, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Scout Council of Thailand, along with committee members and delegation of the National Scout Council of Thailand of 48 people. The visit to Malaysia was part of the offsite meetings of the Advisory Committee, which took place in Songkhla Province, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur between 6 – 8 December 2024.
 
In the welcoming remarks, the Ambassador acknowledged the success of the delegation’s visit to Malaysia, which included a meeting with Mr. David Berg, Acting Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), and Dato Hj Zulkafli bin Kamaruddin, Chairman of the Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang State), as well as a site visit to the office of the Scouts Association of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. The Ambassador also expressed hope that the delegation will apply knowledge and experiences from this visit to further enhance the future missions and activities of the National Scout Council of Thailand.
 
The Chairman of the Advisory Committee then introduced the delegation’s advisory members and the mission of the National Scout Organization of Thailand (NSOT) and the National Scout Council of Thailand in promoting the role of Thai youth in the World Scout Committee, improving the scouting curriculum in Thai educational institutions, and implementing the WOSM constitution to develop the NSOT’s future operation.
 
The two sides engaged in a warm and cordial discussion over the dinner, which helped promote relations between each other and strengthen overall Thailand – Malaysia ties.
 
On this occasion, Ms. Nuporn Chantavarin and Ms. Orndaporn Pewngern, First Secretaries, and Mr. Thorne Thaenrattanawichit, Second Secretary, also shared information about the political, social, and economic developments of Malaysia and the Embassy’s projects that aim at promoting connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia through education and Thai students in Malaysia.
