On 14 May 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, hosted a luncheon and held discussions with Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communication of Malaysia, together with Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohamed Sulaiman Sultan Suhaibuddeen, Deputy Managing Director (Regulatory) of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) (Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia), and officials from the Ministry of Communication of Malaysia (Kementerian Komunikasi), at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence.

 

The Ambassador and the delegation exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including the overall state of Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations, legal developments in both countries concerning online safety, responses to cyber threats and online scams, digital and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as cooperation in media and communications. Discussions also covered Thailand - Malaysia cooperation under ASEAN frameworks, recent domestic political developments in Malaysia, and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

The discussions were held in a constructive atmosphere, further strengthening the close cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Ministry of Communication of Malaysia, as well as BERNAMA and MCMC. The participants expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality and friendly exchanges, while both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together to further enhance Thailand - Malaysia relations.
