On 1 - 4 May 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organised the “Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s Diplomatic Journey Trip” under the theme “Unseen Phuket: From Local Wisdom to Global Connectivity”.
During the visit, the delegation explored Phuket’s landmark attractions, including Promthep Cape, Phuket Old Town, Sangtham Shrine, Chaithararam Temple (Chalong Temple), and Pae Island, also known as Phuket’s separated sea phenomenon, which is managed and preserved by the Bang Rong Community Enterprise. In addition, the delegation also experienced traditional Thai massage at an award-winning sustainable establishment and the world-class "
Siam Niramit" cultural performance, which masterfully integrates Thai performing arts with state-of-the-art technology. The programme also provided opportunities for the delegation to savour local cuisine and beverages, highlighting Phuket’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and promoting the growing appreciation of Thai products and services.
The inaugural Diplomatic Journey Trip successfully achieved its objectives of strengthening economic cooperation between Thailand, Malaysia, and partner countries, while advancing Proactive Economic and Cultural Diplomacy in all dimensions. The initiative paves the way for expanded business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and promotes sustainable tourism and economic development. The participation of high-level representatives from various countries also served as vital catalyst in enhancing international awareness of the capabilities and potential of Thai businesses, as well as supporting the expansion of Thailand’s export opportunities into international markets.
The delegation highly commended the Royal Thai Embassy’s initiative, noting that the activities clearly reflected Thailand’s proactive diplomatic stance and its readiness as a “Global Economic Partner.” They expressed great appreciation for the firsthand experience of Thai culture and Soft Power, which further strengthened positive perceptions of Thailand and laid a solid foundation for further deepening international relations and cooperation at all levels and across all dimensions.
