Ambassador welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Thai delegation on their Visit to Malaysia to attend the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings

On 7 - 12 July 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the Thai delegation on their visit to Malaysia to attend the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (58th AMM) and Related Meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The Minister and spouse received a warm welcome by the Royal Thai Embassy and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador accompanied the Minister, along with 30 ministers and representatives from other countries and organisations, to 17 ministerial-level meetings during 8 - 11 July 2025, including the 58th AMM, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 15th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) with 11 dialogue partners, and the Signing Ceremony of the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), among others. In addition, the Ambassador also joined the bilateral meeting between H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and ASEAN SOM Leader of Thailand, and H.E. Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ASEAN SOM Leader of Malaysia, on 6 July 2025.
 
To honour the Minister and the Thai delegation, the Ambassador hosted official dinners on 9 and 11 July 2025 at the hotel and the Ambassador’s residence respectively. These gatherings were also attended by members of Team Thailand in Kuala Lumpur in a warm and constructive atmosphere, further reinforcing the spirit of cooperation and integration in advancing Thailand’s interests. In the afternoon of 12 July 2025, the Ambassador, along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, bid farewell to the Minister and delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
 
The Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to Malaysia was a success with Thailand playing a pivotal role in promoting cooperation among ASEAN Member States, dialogue partners, and external partners on mutually-beneficial issues such as human rights, human security, regional economic integration, green and digital economy, transnational challenges; while exchanging views on regional and international issues, including the maintaining of regional peace and stability through the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and preserving Southeast Asia as a nuclear-weapon-free zone, among others.
