Ambassador welcomed the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Thai delegation on their Visit to Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings

On 25 - 27 May 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, and the Thai delegation on their visit to Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Kuala Lumpur.
 
On 25 May 2025, the Ambassador, along with the Defence and Army Attaché, Naval Attaché, Air Attaché, and Minister Counsellor (Police Liaison) of the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, as representatives of the Team Thailand in Malaysia, as well as senior Malaysian officials led by Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) of Malaysia; Dato’ Yubazlan bin Yusof, Chief of Protocol of Malaysia; and Dato’ Rozainor bin Ramli, Chief of Ceremony of Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, welcomed the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Thai delegation at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador accompanied the Prime Minister of Thailand to important programmes during 26 - 27 May 2025, including the 46th ASEAN Summit, the 2nd ASEAN - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, the ASEAN - GCC - China Summit, the 16th Indonesia – Malaysia – Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit, the ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Youth, and the Signing Ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, among others. In addition, the Ambassador was invited to the Gala Dinner in honour of Head of States/ Governments of ASEAN, GCC and China hosted by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and his spouse, Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail. Upon the departure of the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Thai delegation in the evening of 27 May 2025, the Ambassador, along with the Team Thailand in Malaysia, joined senior Malaysian officials in sending off the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Thai delegation at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
 
The Visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand to Malaysia was a success with Thailand playing a pivotal role in discussing with ASEAN Member States to drive ASEAN Community towards a “Resilient, Innovative, Dynamic, and People-centred ASEAN” in accordance with the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future, while advancing cooperation with external partners, particularly on halal industry, energy, supply chain resilience, medical tourism, micro, small, and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) development, green economy transition, as well as digital economy development, among others.
 
The Ambassador and the Team Thailand in Malaysia also welcomed the Prime Minister of Thailand and facilitated high-level Thai delegates, including H.E. Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the National Assembly of Thailand; H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; H.E. Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce of Thailand; H.E. Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance of Thailand; and Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary General of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), upon their arrival at the hotel and the KLCC.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur wishes to express our deep gratitude to the relevant Malaysian agencies for their cooperation in working towards the successful conclusion of this important Summit, and for continuous support in strengthening the close and long-lasting relationship between Thailand and Malaysia at the bilateral level and under the ASEAN framework for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and the region.
