On 26 August 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed the Thai delegation led by Mr. Jakkrapong Sumethchotimetha, Advisor to the Minister of Labour of Thailand, on the occasion of their participation in the ASEAN Green Jobs Forum (AGJF) 2025 on 27 - 28 August 2025 in Putrajaya. The AGJF 2025 was organized by the Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia under the theme “Bridging Green Jobs with Digital Skills: The Role of AI in Training and Upskilling the Workforce”.

During the discussion, the two sides exchanged constructive views on enhancing labour cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia. The topics included the review of the Memorandum of Understanding on the recruitment of Thai workers between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of Malaysia, promoting the legal employment of Thai workers in Malaysia, particularly in high-potential sectors, as well as the latest developments regarding Malaysia’s foreign labour quota and human resources development policies.

At the Forum, Thailand was also invited to participate as one of the key panelists in the Ministerial Panel Session on “Green Jobs in the Digital Economy: A Global and Regional Perspective,” alongside H.E. Mr. Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia, and YB Datuk Gerawat Gala, Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department of Sarawak (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring). The session reinforced ASEAN’s commitment to work collectively to establish a solid foundation for advancing the green jobs in ASEAN, contributing to inclusive, sustainable, and equitable growth in the region.
