On 13 - 14 July 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed H.E. Lieutenant General Adul Boonthumjaroen, Minister of Defence of Thailand, and the Thai delegation on the occasion of their Official Visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia.

On 13 July 2026, the Ambassador hosted a dinner in honour of the Minister of Defence and the Thai delegation at the Ambassador’s Residence. During the dinner, the Ambassador outlined possible ways to follow up on the outcomes of the Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand to Malaysia on 9 - 10 July 2026 in the area of security cooperation, particularly on border management, with a view to achieving tangible results.

On 14 July 2026, the Ambassador accompanied the Minister of Defence in paying a courtesy call on the Minister of Defence of Malaysia at the Ministry of Defence in Kuala Lumpur. The Ambassador attended the Guard of Honour inspection, and the bilateral meeting between the two Defence Ministers, which was conducted in a constructive and positive atmosphere. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries, particularly in the areas of defence cooperation, border management, peacebuilding and development in Thailand’s Southern Border Provinces, as well as cooperation within the ASEAN framework. They also discussed the Thailand - Cambodia situation and regional developments of mutual interest, including the South China Sea.

In the evening, the Ambassador, together with the Defence and Army Attaché, Naval Attaché, and Air Attaché, representing Team Thailand in Malaysia, joined senior Malaysian officials led by Datuk Mohd Yani bin Daud, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia, in seeing off the Minister of Defence of Thailand and the Thai delegation at Subang Air Base, Selangor. The delegation departed safely for Thailand.
