On 8 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, hosted a luncheon and met with Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed, Deputy President of the Senate of Malaysia, together with Senators and the Members of the Parliament (MP) of Malaysia, namely: (1) Ms. Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and MP for Lanang; (2) Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman bin Ku Ismail, MP for Kubang Pasu; (3) Ms. Young Syefura binti Othman, MP for Bentong; (4) Dato’ Hajah Mumtaz binti Md Nawi, MP for Tumpat; (5) Mr. Wong Chen, MP for Subang; (6) Dr. Jufitri bin Joha, Senator; (7) Mr. Robert Lau Hui Yew, Senator; (8 ) Mr. Niran Tan Kran, Senator; (9) Dato’ Sri Vell Paari a/l Tun Samy Vellu, Senator; and (10) Dr. Hajah Wan Martina binti Wan Yusoff, Senator, at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence.
 
In the context of the assumption of office of the new Cabinet under the leadership of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand (second term), the Ambassador reaffirmed the continuity of Thailand’s foreign policy, as well as the proactive role and readiness of the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in Malaysia in promoting parliamentary cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia, with a view to further strengthening overall bilateral relations between the two countries.
 
The Ambassador and the delegation also exchanged views on a range of issues, including legal and political developments in Malaysia, Thailand–Malaysia bilateral relations in trade, connectivity, people-to-people relations, and border management, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest, such as the situations in the Middle East, Myanmar, and Thailand–Cambodia, and cooperation in addressing online scams.
 
The discussions were held in a constructive atmosphere and contributed to strengthening the close cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and the Parliament of Malaysia. The participants expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Embassy, which reflected the unique identity of Thailand through refined Thai cuisine and its distinctive flavours, as well as the gracious and friendly ambiance. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
