From 10 - 12 September 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organised the Malaysian Parliamentarians’ Visit Program 2026 under the theme “Connecting Strengths, Creating Opportunities: Thailand - Malaysia Parliamentary Engagement for a Shared Future.” H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, led a 10-member delegation headed by Dato’ Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik, Member of Parliament of Malaysia, comprising Members of Parliament, Senators, and officials of the Parliament of Malaysia, who were selected by the House of Representatives of Malaysia to participate in the Program.

On 10 September 2026, the Malaysian parliamentary delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Both sides exchanged views on advancing Thailand - Malaysia relations following the Official Visit to Malaysia by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, on 9 - 10 July 2026, and the Working Visit to Malaysia by H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on 6 - 7 September 2026. The discussion covered, among others, connectivity and border security, development cooperation between Southern Thailand and Northern Malaysia, as well as the role of the legislative branches in fostering greater understanding and mutual trust between the peoples of both countries.

In the afternoon, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Lertsak Pattanachaikul, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, together with members of the Thailand - Malaysia Parliamentarians’ Friendship Group. Both sides discussed the promotion of Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations through parliamentary mechanisms and exchanged information on legislative processes, budget allocation, political participation of women and youth, and efforts to combat technology-related crimes. On this occasion, the Second Deputy Speaker commended the Royal Thai Embassy for its continued implementation of the Program, which has contributed to strengthening cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. Following the courtesy call, the Second Deputy Speaker also accompanied the delegation to observe a sitting of the House of Representatives and tour the Parliament building.

In the evening, the delegation undertook a study visit to Bang-Aw Mosque, a historic mosque of architectural significance situated along the Chao Phraya River. The delegation received a briefing from Mr. Adul Yothasamut, Imam of Bang-Aw Mosque, on the history of the mosque and its surrounding community in a friendly atmosphere.

The Ambassador subsequently hosted a dinner reception in honour of the delegation. H.E. Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand; Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs; and Mrs. Sumitra Jarukamnerdkanok, Senator and President of the Thailand - Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Group, also joined the dinner and engaged with the delegation in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
