On 21–22 February 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organised a Legal Consultation Project (2/2025) and a Mobile Consular Services (1/2025) in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Over 40 Thai volunteers from Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, and Selangor participated in the legal training, and more than 50 Thai nationals residing in Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, and neighbouring States had received consular services and legal clinic consultations.
On 21 February 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, together with consular and legal affairs officers visited Thai inmates at Seremban Prison to follow up on their legal cases, health conditions, and overall well-being,
as well as providing related advices. In the evening, the Ambassador met with Thai volunteers’ representatives to exchange views and discuss on challenges in their fieldwork, strengthening cooperation between the Embassy and Thai volunteers’ networks.
On 22 February 2025, Ambassador Lada delivered the opening remarks for the Legal Consultation Project, highlighting the Embassy’s mission for the protection of Thai nationals, including the Thai inmates in light of current Malaysia’s legal developments. The Embassy emphasized the importance of disseminating useful legal information to Thai nationals in Malaysia and encouraged Thai volunteers to regularly follow relevant updates through the official Facebook page of the Royal Thai Embassy and consular channel.
Participants of the training and Legal Consultation Project were equipped with key updates in Malaysia’s family law, labour law, and immigration regulations, as well as guidelines for assisting Thai nationals in Malaysia, with also the participation of Ms. Tarinee Limchularattana, Minister Counsellor (Labour). The participants gained additional knowledge on financial savings and the selection of appropriate health insurance for the Thai volunteers to provide an appropriate guidance to the Thai community in Malaysia.
