The Royal Thai Embassy cheered for Thai badminton players in the SELANGOR Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 at Setia City Center, Shah Alam, Selangor

On 15 February 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, led officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to watch and cheer for Thai badminton players in the SELANGOR Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024, co-organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and the Badminton Asia during 13 – 18 February 2024 at Setia City Convention Center, Shah Alam, Selangor.
 
During the interaction with the 12 Thailand’s women team players and coaches, including Mr. Udom Luengpetcharaporn (coach), Capt. Saralee Thungthongkam (coach), Mr. Kosit Petchpradab (coach), Ms. Suphanida Ketthong (May), Ms. Jongkolphan Kititharakul (Gift), Ms. Rawinda Prajongjai (View), Ms. Busanan Ongbamrungphan (Cream), Ms. Nuntakarn Aimsaard (Auna), Ms. Benyapa Aimsaard (Muna), Ms. Pornpicha Choekeewong (Carrot), Ms. Laksika Kanlaha (Gain), and Ms. Phataimas Muenwong (Jomjam), the Ambassador commended the impressive results of the team, and expressed her support for the shuttlers in the upcoming matches, while highlighting the Royal Thai Embassy’s support for Thai athletes as the representatives of Thailand in international sports competition.
 
The Ambassador and the officials also had the opportunity to watch 5 women’s team group stages between Thailand and Malaysia, whereby they cheered the Thai shuttlers by the side of the court, boosting their confidence and spirit. The outstanding performance of the Thai players led them to win 4-1 to Malaysia, placing Thailand on top of the Group and securing their place in the quarter final matches.
 
The SELANGOR Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 is one of the biggest badminton events in Asia with the record number of 26 participating shuttlers teams from 15 economies. The tournament also serves as the Asia qualification for the Thomas & Uber Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in May 2024 in Chengdu, China, and as a ranking tournament for the participating players from Asia to compete at the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics during July – August 2024 in Paris, France.
