On 10 January 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Thai Students’ Association in Malaysia (TSAM) Assembly 2026 at IWK Eco Park, Kuala Lumpur, whereby officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in Kaula Lumpur and Team Thailand in Malaysia, representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), and lecturers from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) were also present. The event was well attended by over 150 Thai students across Malaysia.
 
In her address, the Ambassador congratulated Mr. Muhammatnawawee Marudin on his election as the 14th President of TSAM. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of the TSAM Assembly 2026 and the Embassy’s collaborative activities with TSAM throughout 2026, in fostering unity, ethical leadership, creativity, responsibility, and positive contributions to local communities and Thailand.
 
The Ambassador encouraged Thai students to make full use of the Embassy’s Centre for Thai Students in Malaysia (CTSM) and Thai Business Information Center (BIC) in Malaysia, and encouraged the students to exercise their rights and responsibilities as Thai citizens by participating in Thailand's overseas general elections and referendum in Malaysia. The Voting will be carried out at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on 24 and 25 January 2026.
