Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia
Ambassador Narong Sasitorn is a career diplomat. Prior to his assignment in Kuala Lumpur, he served in various offices in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2012, he was appointed a Director General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs and was later promoted to become a Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs in charge of bilateral relations in 2013. His previous portfolio at the Ministry includes Directors of East Asian Affairs, Personnel Division and Policy and Planning Bureau.
During 1987-1991, he served as a Second Secretary in the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York and later as a First Secretary to the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China. In 2007-2012, he was Thailand’s Consul General in Chicago. Before coming to Kuala Lumpur, Ambassador Narong Sasitorn served as the Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic between 2015-2018.
Ambassador Sasitorn finished his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political Science (International Relations) from Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand. He is married to Chantana Sasitorn and has two grown up children, Sira and Sirada Sasitorn.
