On International Women's Day 2024, 8 March 2024, the Patrons of ASEAN Ladies' Circle (ALC) of Kuala Lumpur, gathered to boost ASEAN women’s clout in support of women’s role in fostering equal and inclusive societies through the economic empowerment of women, promoting and protecting the rights of women and children, enhancing women’s roles in the development issue to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including supporting the role of the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW) and ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC).

 

The meeting in a cordial and energetic atmosphere was hosted by Datin Soraya Dato Hamid, Spouse of Brunei High Commissioner/ Patron, ALC Brunei/ the current ALC President, at the Grand HYATT Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Participants comprises lady ambassadors and wives of ASEAN ambassadors/ high commissioners, including Madam Kiki Hermono, Spouse of Indonesia Ambassador/ Patron, ALC Indonesia; Madam Khin Myo Thwe, Spouse of Myanmar Ambassador/ Patron, ALC Myanmar; H.E. Ms. Maria Angela A. Ponce, Philippines Ambassador/ Patron, ALC Philippines; Datin Shayanti Menon, Spouse of Singapore High Commissioner/ Patron, ALC Singapore; H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Thailand Ambassador/ Patron, ALC Thailand and Madam Do Thi Huong Lan, Spouse of Vietnam Ambassador/ Patron, ALC Vietnam.

 

The Royal Thai Embassy kindly invites interested communities to follow the mission of the ALC of Kuala Lumpur Patron, to increase awareness and visibility of ASEAN through series of activities carried out by ASEAN member countries.

 

ASEAN Ladies' Circle (ALC) is a ladies' association of 10 ASEAN member countries which aims to promote an understanding and cultural exchange among ASEAN member countries in Kuala Lumpur as well as between ASEAN and Malaysian society and friends.
