On 8 October 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, was invited to attend the book launch “Strategic Shift: Preparing Malaysia for a Turbulent Future”, authored by Datuk Prof. Dr. Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, at EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event featured opening remarks by Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, Secretary-General of the National Security Council of Malaysia, followed by a Keynote Address by Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. The event was also attended by Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications of Malaysia, Mr. Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the public and private sectors, and officials from foreign embassies, with over 100 participants in total.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the Chairman of ISIS Malaysia jointly officiated the book launch. The Chairman of ISIS also participated in a Fireside Chat to share his insights on the book, which outlines Malaysia’s foreign policy directions and strategies amid the evolving international order shaped by major power competition and rapid technological transformation.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador congratulated the Chairman of ISIS and received a copy of the book from him, reaffirming the Embassy’s readiness to continue close cooperation with ISIS to further strengthen the long-standing and sustainable relations between Thailand and Malaysia. The Chairman of ISIS, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s constructive and dynamic engagement with ISIS Malaysia.
