On 3 December 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia was invited to the launching of Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC), Police, Friends and Collaborators (IPFC), hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia. The event was officiated by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, together with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia and high-level guests including Tan Sri Dato' Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia and Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain, Inspector-General of Malaysian Police. The launching was well-attended by over 300 participants from Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia and related agencies, ASEAN diplomatic missions in Malaysia, as well as media.
The Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia introduced the IPFC platforms which was established to encourage engagements, experience-sharing and cooperation between Malaysian police force and partners such as representatives of government agencies, private sector, educational institutions, media, foreign counterparts and the public. The initiative is part of the police reform which aims at raising public awareness of police ethics, as well as monitoring the conduct of the police by creating a more effective complaint and investigation mechanism.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia emphasized on the integrity of police force as the bedrock of the nation’s stability, notably their roles in anti-corruption and addressing the abuse of power, while calling for the police to do their level’s best in maintaining peace and order, as well as good image of the Malaysian Police.
IPFC is part of the implementation of Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2020, effective since July 2023.
