On 9 June 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, served as a speaker alongside the Ambassador of Thailand to Yangon in a Panel Talk to provide information and knowledge to Thai media on the topic “Thailand’s Policy Towards the Situation in Myanmar” during the 2025 Meeting of Ambassadors and Consuls-General under the theme “Proactive and People-Centred Diplomacy: From Policy to Practice” held from 8 to 14 June 2025, in Bangkok.

 

The Ambassador discussed Malaysia’s perspective on the situation in Myanmar, both in its capacity as ASEAN Chair this year and as a neighboring country, and how Malaysia has approached and pushed for solutions to this issue. In addition, the Ambassador provided insights into the current trends of the situation in Myanmar, Malaysia’s view of Thailand’s role, as well as Malaysia’s cooperation with Thailand and various partners both within and outside the region in addressing the Myanmar situation for peace and stability in the region. She emphasized Thailand’s role and its foreign policy of maintaining friendly relations with all countries while safeguarding Thailand’s national interests and the welfare of the Thai people.
