On 28 November 2025, H.E. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia was invited to a luncheon between women Ambassadors/ Heads of Missions and International Organizations and The Rt. Hon. Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, former Chief Justice of Malaysia, hosted by H.E. Chantal Moser, Ambassador of Switzerland in Malysia, in a close and cordial atmosphere.

 

The discussion over the luncheon was productive, providing an opportunity to exchange information on Malaysia’s legal and institutional reforms, challenges in judiciary independence, initiative on the separation of powers between the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor, and an importance of education system in awareness raising about laws among the youth, etc.

 

The Ambassador commended Malaysia on its recent legal reforms, in particular an abolishment of mandatory death penalty, and expressed high hope on future of the citizenship law. She emphasized also on Thailand - Malaysia legal and judiciary collaboration, and looked forward to a successful negotiation of the International Transfer of Prisoners Treaty, which will help further strengthen the two countries’ relations and yield direct benefits to the peoples of Thailand and Malaysia.
