On 19 June 2026, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, together with H.E. Mr. Thepthavone Sengmany, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Malaysia, officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and Team Thailand, as well as a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, attended the “ALL STARS — 10 Hands, One Pass, One Night” culinary event hosted by the Thai restaurant “As I Am by Chef Ton” in Kuala Lumpur.

 

Ambassador Lada congratulated the three distinguished Thai chefs participating in the event: (1) Mr. Thitid Tassanakajohn (Chef Ton), owner and host chef of As I Am by Chef Ton, who has elevated Thai fine dining to international acclaim; (2) Mr. Thaninthorn Chantrawan (Chef Noom), renowned for reinterpreting traditional Thai cuisine through contemporary techniques; and (3) Ms. Srintip Ruangraigomen (Chef Wan), a culinary expert known for her innovative use of locally sourced Thai ingredients. The Ambassador also extended congratulations to the two guest chefs: (1) Mr. Willy Wee, a Malaysian chef celebrated for incorporating Thailand’s culinary heritage with premium ingredients, and (2) Mr. Jacob Jan Boerma of the Netherlands, whose modern culinary approach combines international flavours and ingredients with exceptional finesse.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador had the opportunity to experience an exclusive Chef’s Table menu created collaboratively by the five chefs, featuring signature dishes such as The Southern Summer (blue crab khao yam with crab budu glaze), The Herb Garden (prawn tom yum with avocado and basil), and Coming Home (Khanom Krok), among others. The event served as an important platform to showcase the quality and excellence of Thai chefs on the global stage. The occasion also reaffirmed the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to advancing Thailand’s gastrodiplomacy policy by promoting Thai cuisine and supporting Thai culinary professionals in bringing the richness of Thai gastronomy to the world, thereby contributing to the continued growth of Thailand’s economy.
