Ambassador welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on his Working Visit to Malaysia

On 12 - 13 October 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, welcomed H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the Thai delegation, on the Foreign Minister’s working visit to Malaysia at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Malaysia in his capacity as the ASEAN Chair.
 
On 13 October 2025, the Ambassador participated in a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, whereby YBHG. Dato’ Sri Amran bin Mohamed Zin, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia; and Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, were also present. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen Thailand - Malaysia bilateral relations, including promoting connectivity to facilitate cross-border trade and transportation, enhancing economic development along the border, as well as preparation for the Prime Minister of Thailand’s upcoming Official Visit to Malaysia and participation in the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summit scheduled for the end of October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador also joined in supporting the four-party consultation among Malaysia, the United States, Thailand, and Cambodia, on 12 October 2025, to discuss outstanding issues regarding Thailand - Cambodia situation with a view to de-escalating tensions and ensuring tangible progress on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. The Thai side stressed the importance of the bilateral mechanisms and the need to achieve progress on issues which have been agreed by the Thai and Cambodian sides, while highlighting 4 key areas, including the withdrawal of heavy weaponry from border areas, joint demining efforts, combating transnational crime, and cooperation on the management of border areas, in order to achieve shared goals of peace and stability for the people of the two countries
